White horses are NOT Albinos!
Most 'white colored' horses are actually 'greys'. They have a white coat, but have dark skin and are actually born black. Their coat turns white with age.

Unlike greys, true white horses have pink skin and are born white. They are a specific breed.

WHAT'S IN A TAIL?
A horse's tail rises and falls depending on how 'excited' he is.

A tail held high shows alertness, while one drooped low means he's goofing off.

A swishing tail shows he's annoyed.

HOOF COLORS
Black hooves are usually seen as stronger and less likely to crack than white ones.

Some breeds, which mainly have white hooves are also known for hoof problems.

Other breeds, such as Appaloosas, often have striped hooves.

A SPOT OF BOTHER
Most Appaloosas are NOT born spotted.

They are born solid bay or black and only begin to 'color up' when they lose their foal coat.
Those with spots all over are called "leopards". Others have spotted white "blankets" on their rumps, while others appear covered in "snowflakes".
